What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is the artificial whitening of the surface of teeth by removing stains. Dental professionals use dental bleach (not real bleach) and other substances to remove the stains from the surface of your teeth. Teeth whitening procedures are efficient and effective ways to brighten that smile!
Why do teeth stain?
We know you can’t get out the door without your morning coffee. But, did you know that your coffee could be seriously staining the surface of your teeth? Coffee and other foods can cause teeth to stain, making it increasingly difficult to whiten your teeth with over-the-counter teeth whitening options. Here are a few of the things that stain our teeth the most. To keep your teeth white limit these things or contact our office about simple, fast and effective teeth whitening procedures.
• Drug/Tobacco Use
• Alcohol Consumption
• Red Wine
• Fruit Juice
• Balsamic Vinegar
Types of Teeth Whitening Available
At our office, we provide two different types of teeth whitening based on the severity of your needs and your personal preferences. Read more about the whitening procedures available at our dental office.
• In-Office Teeth Whitening – This is the more intensive whitening procedure. It involves hydrogen-peroxide bleach gel that is applied to your teeth and activated via UV radiation. This procedure is the quickest way to whiten your teeth, and it can be done in one office visit.
• At-Home Teeth Whitening – You may also be a good candidate for at-home whitening. This procedure involves the creation of custom trays in our office that you’ll use to whiten your teeth at home.
Am I a good candidate for teeth whitening procedures?
While teeth whitening could help just about anyone, not everyone is a good candidate. You’re a good candidate for teeth whitening procedures if you meet most of the following criteria.
• Old/Lucid enough to understand the procedure
(extremely old and young people won’t be good candidates)
• The desire to improve the exterior appearance of their teeth
